Air

When a skimboarder launches into the air by using a natural feature or wave without ollieing.

< Bail Out

To get away from, jump off, or roll off your skimboard right before a potential wipeout.

Bank

An elevated surface created from a natural sand formation.

Barrel

The breaking motion of a wave; a hollow channel formed inside a perfect wave when it breaks and curls over.

< Beach Bunny

An attractive girl who hangs out and watches people skimboard.

Beached Whale

Super full from eating too much food before a skim session.

< Beachwood

The most perfect skimboarding conditions you can imagine.

Beaver Call

When someone lands a nasty trick and everyone slaps their hands against their skimboards.

Blunt

Going over an object and landing with the tail along the edge of the object, the skimboard should be pointing in a near vertical position.

Boneyard

A skim area that is full of debris such as: rocks, clam shells or sticks.

Bust-a-Grumpy

A nicely executed trick landed smoothly.

To make a radical change in direction by turning.

Chronic

Something that is high quality.

< Coffin

Riding your skimboard while laying stiffly on one's back with your arms crossed.

Comp

Short for competition.

Cruncher

A Large wave that folds over and is very hard to ride.

Delamination

Damage done when a layer is chipped from the plywood of your skimboard, or when fiberglass loses its adhesion with the foam core.

Ding

A hole, crack, dent, or scratch on the surface of your skimboard.

Doggers

Really intense multi colored swimming trunks

Eagle Eyeing

When you are skimboarding and somebody is watching from a distance.

Fatty

Meaning high or far. Used to express a skimboarding trick that is performed over a long distance or to a great height.

Fish Stick

Skimboarding past a friend standing stationary and slapping his hand to make you rotate into a spin.

Flapjack

Breaking your skimboard in half.

Flip

Making your skimboard completely flip over and land back on the base, can be done using various combinations.

< Goofy

Your stance is goofy if you ride with your right foot forward, the opposite of regular.

Grab

Using your hand to grab onto your skimboard while performing a trick.

< Grind

Sliding along the edge or on top of an object with the base of your skimboard.

Grom

A young skimboarder.

Hand Plant

A form of handstand where your board is held in the air either by your hands or feet.

< Indy Grab

Grabbing the skimboard in front of you with your rear hand.

Kink

The changing of the handrails angle. A handrail that runs down a set of steps then goes horizontal is a two kink rail.

< Launch Ramp

A portable ramp transitioned without any vert made for skimboarders to launch from.

Lip

The top edge of a ramp.

Melloncollie

An ollie while you grab the back of your skimboard with the leading hand.

No Comply

To travel along with the rear foot on the tail of your skimboard, then place the front foot on the ground and pop the board into the air.

Nollie

While traveling along, place the front foot on the nose of your skimboard and pop up into the air using the nose of your board, the opposite of an Ollie.

Nose Slide

Sliding along an object using the front end of your skimboard.

< Pop Shuv-It

A shuv-it mixed with an ollie.

Railslide

Sliding along an object on the part of your base between your feet.

< Regular

When you skimboard with your left foot forward, the opposite of goofy.

Revert

Landing a trick facing forwards, then quickly sliding around 180 degrees to finish backwards.

< Rocker

The amount of curvature in the skimboard from nose to tail. It's important to have enough rocker to keep you off the sand and above the water but too much rocker will slow you down.

Sandman

Falling straight onto sand.

Stalefish Grab

Grabbing the skimboard behing you with the rear hand around the back of your rear leg.

Getting a group of friends together and skimboarding.

Landing a trick.

Switch Stance

The art of skimboarding the stance that you don't usually ride with. This means if you do tricks riding regular to skate switch stance you would perform the same tricks with a goofy stance.
